BeltLine Bridge

Professor: Michael Gamble
Three Week Charrette

The Beltline was conceptualized as a railway loop, revitalized as an ecological public trail, connecting different communities from all over Atlanta, and representing a variety of neighborhoods. This Beltline bridge over North Avenue, replaces and revitalizes a demolished bridge over Atlanta’s soon-to-be technological corridor.

The form of the bridge is a representation of the various intersections of culture, reclaimed infrastructure, technology, ecology, and future growth. Assembled in seemingly random pieces of corten steel, reclaimed train rail, and steel mesh, the bridge at its inception would be void of form. Over time, the bridge’s form and character would be realized through the growth of dogwood trees and ivy; an infrastructure reclaimed by nature.
