ABOUT

Clay Kiningham, an Architect and Illustrator, holds a B.Arch and M.Arch from Georgia Tech, where he won the Portman Prize Competition and received the M.Arch Top Designer award. While at Georgia Tech, Clay’s research focused on computational design and mixed reality fabrication as a means of facilitating the complexity of design in affordable Architecture.

As an Architect, Clay is registered in the State of Georgia and an NCARB Certificate holder. His skillset involves the use of computational design to combine disparate software platforms that enable synchronous Architectural documentation during the design process. Clay is currently an Associate at BLDGS Architects, where he has worked on both ground-up and adaptive reuse commercial projects. Prior to his work at BLDGS, Clay holds experience in various project types including hospitality, multifamily housing, higher education, retail, office, and stadium design. Clay is also a lecturer at the Georgia Institute of Technology College of Design, where he teaches Architecture Design Studios.

As an Illustrator, Clay's work primarily revolves around representing historic architectural landmarks. In collaboration with Author Gene Kansas, he is involved in an ongoing effort to illustrate and document the history of the Sweet Auburn neighborhood in Atlanta through the book, Civil Sights. The work highlights the need for the Historic Preservation of endangered sites. Clay’s illustration has also played a role internationally, where he worked with the Emory University Archaeological team in Samothrace, Greece. During this time Clay contributed to a growing collection of detailed drawings for publication.
